What is Pilates?

The Pilates repertoire was developed by Joseph Pilates and includes a series of low-impact, full body exercises designed to strengthen core muscles, improve balance and stability, increase joint and spinal mobility, improve body awareness and coordination, and improve posture. At Physio by Steph we will be using the reformer, the well-loved and most popular piece of Pilates equipment!

How is Clinical Pilates different than regular Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is a one-on-one patient-specific treatment. Patients will be assessed by Steph, a registered Physiotherapist, who will use her extensive physiotherapy knowledge to create an individualized Pilates program tailored to the patient’s specific needs based on the assessment findings. Clinical Pilates is a type of therapeutic exercise and therefore is billed as physiotherapy treatment.

Who is Clinical Pilates for?

Clinical Pilates is for everyone! It is a gentle yet highly effective form of rehabilitation for those who have undergone surgery or are injured/in pain and are looking to regain their strength, mobility and overall function. It is equally beneficial for those who are looking to prevent injury, build strength, increase flexibility and improve their overall fitness level.
