Some common questions you may have.

What can I expect of my first appointment?

Before we begin, I ask that you please fill out the online intake form (you will receive an email link to complete this when you book the appointment). I will begin our one-on-one session by taking a detailed history of your condition to get a thorough understanding of your issue and to figure out what is holding you back, whether it be pain, injury, stress, etc. I will go on to perform a biomechanical assessment to observe and evaluate your posture, mobility, strength, flexibility, etc. We will then discuss your goals, and I will develop a personalized treatment plan to get you started on your road to recovery.

What do I need to bring with me and what should I wear to my first appointment?

Please bring any relevant paperwork that you may have including a doctor’s referral, imaging/test results, or other medical documentation. I suggest that you wear shorts (if I am looking at your lower body) and a t-shirt or tank top (if I am looking at your upper body). Whatever you choose to wear, please make sure that you can move freely in it!

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on the patient, and the injury, as no two people or injuries are the same. After our initial assessment I will have a better idea of how long it will take for you to fully recover and we will discuss your treatment plan including number of follow up appointments then.

Is acupuncture or dry needling an additional fee?

No, both acupuncture and dry needling are included in your treatment fee.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for physiotherapy?

No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to be assessed or treated by a physiotherapist. However, some insurance companies may require a doctor’s referral for the reimbursement of physiotherapy services. I suggest you speak with your insurance provider for clarification.

Is my physiotherapy treatment covered by OHIP?

No, this is a private clinic, and therefore the treatment is not covered by OHIP. Please refer to the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario website for a list of designated OHIP-funded clinics in Ontario.

Do you accept Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) or Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims?

No, I do not accept patients involved in WSIB or MVA claims at this time.

Do you do direct billing to insurance companies?

No, I do not bill your insurance company directly. Rather, at the end of your appointment you will receive a receipt with all of the relevant details needed to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

How do I pay for my session?

Payment is done through Jane Payments, a secure and encrypted platform. Your appointment will be confirmed once your credit card is in your patient profile. When your session is complete, Jane will automatically charge your credit card and you will be emailed a receipt. Alternatively you can pay by cash.
